Explore and discover some of Greece's finest wine selections produced by Greek women. There is a growing number of women now either producing wines or running wineries. Many have been doing it for years but have had very little awareness in the industry. Today's wine event wants to highlight and celebrate these talented individuals who have dedicated their lives into their passions of producing signature wines for us to enjoy.

New wine classifications are as follows:
PDO: Protected Designation of Origin - the wine has to be produced from specific grapes grown within a defined appellation or area, and winemaking requirements.
PGI: Protected Geographical Indication: this labeling is applied to wines produced outside of the PDO parameters. Winemakers are allowed to blend local and international varieties.
Palivou Estates Vineyards, Nemea - Evangelia & Vasilki Palivou
This historical wine estate is deeply rooted in the heart of Nemea and is now run by sisters, Evangelia and Vasilki Palivou. They've taken the reins from their father, Yiorgos Palivou. Their heart and soul have been cultivating the noble red grape, Agiorgitiko and producing expressions of this variety that are magical to all wine lovers. They are also growing a collection of indigenous varieties like Malagousia and Roditis along with international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
Iliana Malihin Winery, Crete - Iliana Malihin
One of Greece's youngest and most progressive winemakers from Crete. Now in her early 30s, Iliana Malihin has caught the attention of international trade by producing one of the most natural expressions of the Cretan variety, Vidiano. Her winery hails from the mountain villages of Rethymno and she is elevating the reputation of the area by the potential the land has. Her Vidiano vines are farmed organically, and her wines are low-intervention production.
Lyrarakis Winery, Crete - Myriam Ambuzer
In charge of winemaking is Myriam Ambuzer who has been vital in securing Lyrarakis a place in the elite wineries of Greece. Her philosophy emphasizes precision, purity and supple texture of the fruit. She argues it is all about expressing authenticity, achieving harmony and that every variety needs to be worked in its own special way.
Silva Daskalaki Winery, Crete - Irini & Xaroula Daskalaki
Irini Daskalaki and her daughter Xaroula are spearheading the operation at the winery in the Heraklion area, from farming organically to biodynamic practices. Irini carries on the tradition from the previous generations to revive the quality of the local varieties such Vidiano, Kotsifali, and Liatiko.
Parparoussis Winery, Patras - Erifil & Dimitra Parparoussis
The dynamic duo of sisters Erifili and Dimitra Parparoussis have taken over the reins of the family's winery, founded by their legendary father, Athanasios. They've devoted their lives to elevating wine from the area, focusing on the local varieties, Sidertis and Mavrodaphne to name a few from 1974.
Monemvasia Winery, Laconia - Marilena & Anastasia Tsimbidis
The revitalization of Monemvasia's wine culture is thanks to the Tsimbidis family who saw the vision of the area's potential that was once a major port and wine producing area centuries ago. Founder George and Elli, are blessed to have their daughter's Marilena and Anastasia part of the production team as George continues to discover lost areas for new cultivation.
Domaine Karanika, Amyndeon - Lia Gatsou
At Domaine Karanika, you will embark on Burgundian style, Xinomavro and Champagne-like sparklers, thanks to the perseverance of winemaker, Lia Gatsou who was persistent to join founders Laurens and Anette on their journey to produce world class wines from the area.
Domaine Paterianakis, Crete - Emmanuela & Niki Paterianakis
Emmanuela and Niki are the soul of the Domaine Paterianakis. Both manage the company with the love and passion that they inherited from their family of traditional winemakers. Emmanuela has been the Domaine’s chief oenologist since 2007 and is the manager of the winery. Niki is involved with the Domaine’s commercial representation. She is a chemical engineer and graduate of the National Technical University of Athens.
